The receiver also lets you program up to 30 presets of your favorite streams, as well as search by stream, artist name, song title, or category.  Exactly what I wanted January 9, 2009
I did a lot of research before asking for this particular radio as a gift. I am glad I did, because this is perfect for me! I love that you can pick between 15 different display screens. The unit plugs snugly into the mount so there is no worry about it falling out. It is also easy to remove for those times you don't want to leave it in the car. I had mine installed, and they mounted it to the windshield. It stays firmly in place. The display is large, and very easy to read. It holds 30 presets which I think is just awesome! Navigating between channels is easy as you can find each category and look at all the channels available. Once you set your presets, you can then go through them and see what is playing before you change the channel.
When I had mine installed, the guy sold me an extra part that eliminated feedback from radio stations that might have the same preset that the Sportster is set to. I don't know if this made a difference, but every song comes in clear, like CD quality. I haven't had any static or interference at all. The station it is set to is close to a station here in town, and no outside noise bleeds through.
Because of a suggestion from another reviewer, I called Sirius to activate it, instead of using the website. My call was answered within 2 minutes. The sales person was very helpful and my radio was working within 5 minutes. The service was faster than I expected. Later that evening, I wasn't able to get my password to work online (turns out I was given the incorrect one). I called again, and got a live person within 2 minutes. She had me up and going pretty much instantly (within a minute). She was friendly and very informative.
This is my first satellite radio, so I did actually have to read a little of the manual. I don't normally read them because I can usually figure things out on my own. The manual was easy to read, and very "step by step". It has a table of contents so if you aren't sure of how to work a specific feature, you can find that particular page directly.
Again, I am very happy with this radio and (as you can see) I would recommend it to anyone.
Radio review January 9, 2009
I bought the Sirius radio for my husband as a Christmas present. He has been so excited about the radio that he acts like a kid who got just the gift he requested. The funny thing is, he didn't have the Sirius radio on his list! He has been enjoying his radio to the fullest since the day he installed it and hasn't made one complaint.
 Great little unit January 7, 2009
A nice unit with a decent display and solid little remote. Make sure you have a good place to setup the antenna. The stations available in the various packages are great with an excellent variety and no ads.
For car installation you'll need a professional to do it right.
Using this with the home dock kit.

Great item and company was easy to deal with. My husband had to exchange sirius for XM since Sirius does not offer a MLB network. The company could not have been easier and more helpful to deal with. Thanks.
The Best Sirius has to offer December 31, 2008
I travel a lot in my car, so I bit the bullet and got Sirius. I looked at all the receivers available and narrowed it down to the Starmate 5 and the Sportster 5. I ultimately decided on the Sportster because frankly it looked the coolest.
This thing has so many bells and whistles that I'm still getting used to it. For me it was the best choice. I love the display, the number of presettings, the way it will track your favorite sports teams. Overall a great buy.
Some people have talked about the installation. I read a lot of these reviews before buying this receiver and followed everyone's advice and had it professionally installed. (Cost: $60, Headaches; 0)
My only complaint is the remote... it's to small. One of the reasons I bought this unit is because of the remote. While driving it's easier to use a remote than to mess with the display. But it's super small which makes it difficult to use at times. It would have also been more helpful if it was lighted for night time driving.
Overall a great receiver.
