Can't beat it for the price January 8, 2009
This CD/DVD player hooks up well and holds 5 CDs. But my old one had one little button to shuffle on one CD or shuffle all. This thing requires about 7 steps including turning on your television to utilize a menu option JUST to get it to shuffle ONE CD. It does not shuffle all. For watching videos and listening to one CD it is top notch. Just miss my Shuffle ALL functionality.

I wanted a DVD player with 1080P up conversion that I could also use for playing five or more CDs. I got it in this unit. The picture is spectacular shown on my new Sony LCD TV. The sound quality is great either through the TV's HDMI connection or, better still, channeled through my Sony receiver via a coaxial cable.
The Sony DVP-NC800H also works with my Sony TV via Bravia sync. You can use either remote control to operate various functions and turn on and off both units at the same time.
Even in this day and age, it's unbelievable that you can purchase a versatile unit like this for such a cheap price.
If you are looking for a HDMI DVD player with 5-disc changer capability that will also play just about every CD and DVD format out there, this is the one to buy.
Excellent January 3, 2009
I purchased a Sony 5 disk player 6 years ago and it's an excellent DVD/CD player. It is still playing and is used daily. When I decided to setup my living/greatroom I had no doubts about which DVD/CD player I would buy. My second Sony Progresssive Scan 5- Disc DVD/CD player is functioning up to specs. and is easy to use. If you want a 5-disc player look no further than the Sony.

As with all Sony products, it is overpriced. It works just fine and I recommend it. To be honest, I have all Sony equipment and I have never had an problem with any of them. Not to say they don't fail -- they do. I am retired from electronics service so I know.
For the price, it's hard to beat September 20, 2008

Purchased it on an impulse. I needed something to replace a older DVD player. My 5 changer CD broke during a recent move so I decied to buy this model since it can play 5 disks of music or upscale DVD's. I get the best of both worlds. I still plan to buy a Blue Ray player in the future. Once I do, I will still get use out of this device as it will remain as my CD player for music.
